CERTIFICATE OF RENTAL OCCUPANCY

As the tourist season winds down, our office would like to take the opportunity to reach out to property owners who rent their dwelling units for one day or year-round. Since 1996, the Town of Hampton requires that all properties containing rental units be inspected by the Rental Inspector. Upon successful completion of the inspection, a Certificate of Rental Occupancy is issued validating that the unit meets the minimum safety requirements identified in the Building Codes.   The intent of this requirement is focused on the safety of the rental population staying in Hampton throughout the year. In addition, having a valid Certificate of Rental reduces the potential for injuries which may result in unforeseen consequences for the owner. All property owners should review their current Certificate of Rental Occupancy needs to ensure they remain in compliance. If a Certificate has not previously been issued, or has expired, please contact our office at 603-929-5817 or email Pking@Hamptonnh.gov. Thank you for keeping our residents and visitors safe.
