Beginning the week of June 15th, Aquarion Water company will begin with the replacement of their water main and services on Locke Road. They expect the work to last approximately 8-10 weeks. While water work is ongoing, there should be no disruption to homeowners water service with the exception of the actual tie over of homeowner’s existing service to the new service line. While there could be other causes for disruption, these are not planned and everyone will do their best to provide the appropriate notifications.
Upon the completion of Aquarion’s water project, the Town expects to begin the sewer and drainage improvements. We expect this to be mid- to late August. Construction will continue through the end of the year (weather permitting). Similar to water construction, there should be no significant disruption to your use to the Town Sewer. This means that you can still shower, use the bathroom etc. If there is a need to restrict use, notice will be provided.
The Traffic Plan identifies the proposed detours and signage that will be placed.
During these improvements Locke Road is proposed to be CLOSED during construction hours (Monday through Saturday 7 am -6 pm).
What this means is:
- You will not be able to go from High Street to Winnacunnet Rd or Winnacunnet Road to High Street using Locke Road.
- A detour will be set up using Mill Road as the detour roadway.
- If you live on any of the joining roads (Colby Street, Wentworth Avenue, Edgewood Drive, Carlson Road, Bradstreet) you will not be able to get to Winnacunnet Road or High Street using Locke Road.
For those who live on Locke Road or need access to a residence on Locke Road:
- If you live on Locke Road and are trying to get to your homes, we ask that for the first phase of the project that you enter from Winnacunnet Road, as work will begin at High Street. Once the first section of water main is complete, and work progresses towards Winnacunnet Road, access will then switch to be from High Street. We ask that you please leave some extra time and a detail officer will be there to assist with safe travel.
- If you live on Locke Road and are trying to leave your homes, we ask from the first phase of the project that you leave heading toward Winnacunnet Road. Once the second phase begins we will ask that you leave Locke Road via the nearest side street. Signage will be up denoting the sections of Locke Road that are closed for main line and service crew work. We ask that you please leave some extra time and a detail officer will be there to assist with safe travel.
Please remember that the safety of everyone is our top priority. This means – SLOW DOWN! PAY ATTENTION!! and please be PATIENT!!!
