PREPA Grant Project - Local Land Use Regulations (Audit and Amendments)

The Town of Hampton has received grant funding, from the Piscataqua Region Estuaries partnership (PREP), to review its existing land use regulations with the ultimate goal of drafting amendments for the Planning Board and the Town's voters to consider. The purpose of these proposed changes is to improve Hampton’s coastal resilience and mitigate the negative impacts of sea level rise and climate change on the community.  Hampton is working with a consulting firm, Resilience Planning and Design, to audit the existing land use regulations and present recommendations for integrating New Hampshire’s Coastal Flood Risk Guidance. This project also involves an extensive public outreach and education component, including a presentation of the various options to be considered.

The PREPA grant portion of the project will run through the end of June 2022, but this important work will continue beyond that time with the vetting and refinement of the various options and recommendations through a series of public events and the use of digital and print communications.
